A wealthy businessman received an anonymous letter in which the life of his wife was threatened if he did not pay a significant sum of money into an offshore bank account. Capcon Argen was called in to investigate and manage the crisis.
Whilst the investigation to trace the criminals got under way, a close protection team was assembled in order to keep the client and his wife safe. An experienced team leader maintained constant contact with the client, his family, domestic staff, drivers and colleagues, and directed his team of experienced former service personnel who were trained in counter-surveillance and protection techniques. Access in and around their home was monitored and travel to and from work was controlled. The whole operation was carried out discreetly to avoid attracting unwanted attention.
After a fortnight, the criminals were arrested by the police and the close protection team stood down. The traumatic experience prompted the executive to request that Capcon Argen conduct an overall review of his domestic security, as well as a short training programme for his staff.
